‘MONKEY MAN’ TRAILER OUT

Dev Patel, the Oscar-nominated actor, is all set to make his directorial debut with an action-packed revenge story titled "Monkey Man". The film is being released theatrically by Universal Pictures on April 5 and has been produced by Jordan Peele's Monkeypaw Productions.
The first trailer of the movie was released on Friday morning. Patel stars in the movie as Kid, an anonymous young man who barely manages to make a living in an underground fight club. Every night, he wears a gorilla mask and allows himself to be beaten by more popular fighters in exchange for cash. According to the release, the film is inspired by the legend of Hanuman, a deity in Hinduism.

"After years of suppressing his rage, Kid discovers a way to infiltrate the enclave of the city's sinister elite. As his childhood trauma boils over, his mysteriously scarred hands unleash an explosive campaign of retribution to settle the score with the men who took everything from him."

The preview displays intense action scenes that resemble those from a "John Wick" movie. The character played by Patel embarks on a mission seeking bloody revenge, using guns, knives, and other weapons to fight his way through enemies.

In one scene, he gruesomely stabs a man in the neck while holding a knife between his teeth. Patel has directed his own creation, "Monkey Man," with the help of Paul Angunawela and John Collee.
