Paytm FASTag Users Beware:- NHAI's Latest Move and Your Toll Payments
Paytm Payments Bank, the biggest FASTags issuer with millions of users, has been banned. Due to this regulatory action, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has removed Paytm Payments Bank Ltd from the list of 30 authorized banks for providing FASTag services. NHAI has issued an updated list of authorized banks for FASTag services that excludes Paytm Payments Bank. Airtel Payments Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, and State Bank of India are among the prominent banks that are now included in the list of authorized banks for FASTag services. This regulatory action has left around 2 crore users of Paytm FASTag in trouble.
What is FASTag?
FASTag is a digital payment system that uses Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to automatically deduct toll charges from the prepaid or savings account linked to it. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has recommended that customers and merchants who have accounts with Paytm Payments Bank Ltd (PPBL) should switch to other banks by March 15. This will give PPBL an additional 15 days to wind down most of its operations, including deposit and credit transactions.
