UFC 300 Main Event Revealed: Alex Pereira to Clash with Jamahal Hill

Following the event in Anaheim, California, UFC CEO Dana White announced the main event on Saturday. It is a fight for the title of light heavyweight. 

Dana White announced the main event for UFC 300 via a video post on social media. He made the announcement from the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. The main event will feature Alex Pereira defending his light heavyweight title against Jamahal Hill

After months of speculation, UFC CEO Dana White finally revealed the highly anticipated main event on Saturday. Light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira will defend his title against former champion Jamahal Hill at the event on April 13 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. 

Following UFC 298 on social media, White posted the news in a video. Pereira is ranked No. 7 on ESPN's pound-for-pound rankings. In just seven fights, Pereira (9-2)—a former middleweight champion in the UFC—holds the record for the fastest two divisional title wins in UFC history.

Being the first fighter to win titles in the UFC's middleweight and light heavyweight classes, Alex Pereira created history. In the shortest amount of time in the organization's history, he captured the middleweight title. 

In the fewest number of fights, he emerged victorious in the second weight class. He is a formidable striker with an all-action style that has helped him win seven of his nine MMA bouts via knockout. He is going up against Jamahal Hill, the former light heavyweight champion who had to give up the belt after rupturing his Achilles tendon in the previous season.

To earn the 205-pound title, Pereira defeated Jiri Prochazka via TKO in November.In November 2022, he defeated Israel Adesanya to win the middleweight belt, but Adesanya regained it in April.

"He defeated the previous champion Glover Teixeira in his most recent fight by landing the most strikes—232—in a UFC light heavyweight match. And he is the first former Contender Series competitor of Dana White to win a world championship. He is a highly skilled kickboxer with significant power, much like Pereira.

 In his last five UFC victories, four have been by knockout, and he has received performance bonuses in each of his previous four fights. This battle between two huge world champions and two of the nastiest guys on the roster will be an utter war, UFC President Dana White promised.  

It is almost certain that Pereira and Hill will be eliminated in the last round of UFC 300. Given that Pereira and Hill are powerful fighters who want to win by knockout, the fight almost guarantees that UFC 300 will conclude in a knockout.


Hill has not fought since taking home the title in January 2023, thus this will be his first encounter. Glover Teixeira, a teammate and close friend of Pereira, was also defeated by him, but he was unable to defend his title since he tore his Achilles tendon during the summer."
The upcoming card of the UFC now includes a third title fight. In addition, Michel Pereira will defend his title against a healthy opponent in Hill; Zhang Weili will defend the UFC women's strawweight title against Yan Xiaonan; and Justin Gaethje will defend his BMF crown against Max Holloway.

 Hill is a formidable opponent for everyone, but Pereira won the title in November after overcoming former champion Jiri Prochazka. In the meantime, Hill aims to win back the title he never gave up.
